Cookies n' Creme Puppy Chow - A baJillian Recipes (2024)

An addictive mix of Hershey’s cookies n’ creme chocolate and dark chocolate Oreo crumb-coated cereal squares, Oreo pieces, and even MORE chunks of heavenly cookies n’ creme chocolate!

If you haven’t heard by now, I’m pretty obsessed with Hershey’s Cookies n’ Creme chocolate bars. Considering that this is my second cookies n’ creme recipe I’ve posted this month, it should be rather obvious to you by now.

There’s no chocolate that I love more than that decadently sweet, silky white chocolate loaded with bits of dark chocolate cookie crumbles. I’ve always been a huge sucker for anything with white chocolate. Unfortunately, it tends to be the “black” sheep of the chocolate family, always being overshadowed by milk anddark chocolate. However, I’m here to change ALLof that…

Feast your eyes on the beautifully candy-coated, white chocolatey decadence that is…

Cookies n’ Creme Puppy Chow!!!

I’d first like to apologize in advancefor the factthat instead of shamelesslyinhalingthis white chocolate sugary-sweet Godsend of a treatlike one of The Biggest Losers on cheat day, you’re stuck drooling all over your keyboards as you fawn over these pictures.

But looking onthe bright side, this treat is super easy to make and doesn’t require very many ingredients. I promise!

For starters, this is a no-bake treat. Therefore, not only do you NOThave to deal with that pesky oven, but you also don’t have to endure the always insufferablebaking time that stands between your mouth and that sweet treat of luscious holiness. Don’t even get me started on those torturouscooling times…

Unlike other puppy chow recipes, this one combines TWO mixes which means DOUBLE the sweetness. Just like there’s two parts to an Oreo–the dark cookie wafers and the absolutely crucial creme filling–I madetwo parts for this snack mix.

The “creme” component is made by coating toasty chex cereal squares in a bowl of melted Hershey’s Cookies n’ Creme chocolate. Then they’re shaken upin a sweet sugary dustbowl of powdered sugar.

And this is just the first half!

The “chocolate wafer” component starts off similarly except the cereal squares arethrown intoa bath of rich melted dark chocolate. Finally, they’re shaken up in a mix of crushed Oreo cookies and powdered sugar.

Toss in a few more broken Oreos along with chunks of cookies n’ creme chocolate, and you have one of the easiest, most PERFECT snack mixes you will ever lay on your tongue.

Oh, and I CANNOTforget to mention one of the hidden treasures of this magical mix–the wonderful, perfect clusters ofpowdered sugar-coated cookies n’ creme chocolate. Not sure if that’s such a good description, but here’s what they look like:

They’re basicallymelted bits of cookies n’ creme chocolate that didn’t get around to coating the cereal squares, so they formed they’re own little cluster with powdered sugar–little bits of Heaven is more like it!

Cuisine American

Servings 6 Cups

Ingredients

"Creme" Component

  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 4 ounces cookies n' creme chocolate plus more for adding
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • 2 cups rice chex cereal

"Chocolate Wafer" Component

  • 5 Oreos plus more for adding
  • 4 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • 2 cups chex cereal
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar

Instructions

For the "Creme" Component

  • Pour powdered sugar into a large plastic zip-top bag. Set aside.

  • Microwave the cookies n' creme chocolate in a medium microwave-safe bowl until melted and smooth. Stir in vegetable oil.

  • Pour cereal into melted chocolate and stir to coat. Dump chocolate-cereal mixture into bag of powdered sugar, seal, and shake until cereal is evenly coated.

For the "Chocolate Wafer" Component

  • In a food processor (or with a large zip-top bag and a rolling pin), crush the Oreos until broken into fine crumbs. Set aside.

  • Microwave the semi-sweet chocolate in a medium microwave-safe bowl until melted and smooth. Stir in vegetable oil.

  • Pour cereal into melted chocolate and stir to coat. Dump chocolate-cereal mixture into bag of crushed Oreos, seal, and shake until cereal is evenly coated.* Add in the powdered sugar, seal, and continue to shake until fully coated.

  • Combine both mixes together in a large bowl. If desired, break up a few Oreos as well as chunks of cookies n' creme chocolate to throw into the mix. Stir and enjoy!

Notes

*You'll notice that instead of just mixing the crushed Oreo with the powdered sugar and shaking, I decided to shake the cereal in the crushed Oreo alone first. I found that the Oreo stuck to the cereal better when shaken alone, so that you'd end up with fewer Oreo crumbs that didn't stick to the cereal.
*Makes about 6 cups.
